Many of your lives have been turned upside down with our current global pandemic. I’m in the same boat so I understand some of what you are feeling. We will all respond to the world’s events differently. Remember that there is no “right” way to respond. We haven’t been through this before and our body and mind have no clue what to do with it. It’s ok to feel how you feel. It’s ok to not feel like exercising or eating well. It’s ok to want to exercise and continue to eat well. You might want to start a new hobby or you might want to binge-watch a show on Netflix.  I’m doing a bit of both! If you have kids, they might work well with a schedule or with fluidity to your day. In the coming days, I will talk about what “seems” to be working for us.

This is an ever-changing situation and what worked yesterday might not work tomorrow. Yesterday my husband and I had a burpee contest (I won) but tomorrow we might not have the motivation to do it again.

How can I, and Naturopathic Medicine, help you during this time?

All naturopathic practices have moved to telemedicine only. There are different options available and Jessica is available to help you figure them out.  Unfortunately, I am unable to see new patients at this time as I would need to see them in person.

Try to keep your follow up appointments if you are able to. Wherever you are in your health journey, you want to continue making progress. Your health won’t wait for a virus to pass and life to return to “normal”. If anything, moving forward with your treatment plan will help you to weather this storm and come out at least at the same spot, if not further, on the other side.

Have you been meaning to make an appointment but just haven’t had the time? Now is the time! Most of us have a bit more time on our hands (or at least it is more flexible if you are working from home) and can fit in an appointment especially if you don’t have to drive anywhere for it. You may choose to implement new recommendations now or wait, but in either case, you will be prepared when you are ready to start something new.

Naturopathic Medicine is known for supporting the immune system.  COVID-19 is unlike anything we have seen before. Any research that has been done on it is so new and uncharted. It is also changing daily. Be careful about stopping or starting new things based on what you read. As always, what is good for your immune system might not be good for someone else’s. I will not treat COVID-19 and cannot advise on the “best” treatments for it, but I can speak to your individual immune system.

Are you feeling anxious? Perhaps you suffer from anxiety and it has worsened. Or perhaps you have never experienced anxiety before and are starting to feel it now. My favourite part of my job is listening. Maybe a supplement can help, but oftentimes a listening ear and a different perspective is all you need. I am not a counselor and don’t claim to be one, but I can listen and offer suggestions related to lifestyle, perspective, eating, and supplementation. We find ourselves in a unique situation and things will feel different in your body and your mind. Do you want to talk with someone who knows you but can also be objective? I can be that person!

Are you stuck at home and interested in trying some new recipes? Do you need some suggestions? Maybe you are getting bored with how you have been cooking. Now is the time to experiment. I’m happy to walk you through some new options that can be helpful for you and your family.

There are many more ways that Naturopathic Medicine can support you. I’m still sharing my regular content on Facebook (we all need a break from the news!) and I’m sharing daily snapshots on Instagram. Please follow us on both and engage. We want to hear from you. If you want to start a new supplement please consult a healthcare practitioner first and remember that I cannot advise or prescribe regarding new supplements via email.

I’m thinking about each and every one of you at this time. Please love and support your family, friends, and community. We WILL make it through this and come out stronger on the other side.
