- ½ cup olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 Tbsp red onion, chopped
- 1 Tbsp fresh basil, chopped
- 2 large Portobello mushrooms, stems removed
- Wipe mushrooms with a damp paper towel
- Herbamare to taste
- pepper to taste
- Heat olive oil in a small saucepan at medium heat.
- Add garlic and red onions and sauté until softened, approx. 5-6 minutes.
- Set aside and cool.
- Add basil into oil mixture along with Herbamare and pepper and brush over the tops and bottoms of the mushrooms.
- Grill mushrooms over medium heat, continuing to brush with oil mixture.
- Allow 3-4 minutes per side.
- Mushroom burgers can be garnished with hummus or guacamole a large slice of tomato and spring greens all tucked into a spelt bun or onion Kaiser roll or any of the Ezekiel brand buns.
