As a child, I was asked ‘what do you want to be when you grow up?’ At different times, I may have answered a doctor or an archaeologist. Mostly I did not know. Later I learned about the idea of a soul having a Life mission on earth. I liked the idea but again did not know my answer. Always I wanted to know the ‘right’ thing and do the ‘right’ thing. Results varied.

I have laboured under the delusion that all my problems would go away if I was doing the right things for my Life mission. But maybe I am wrong about the ‘magic bullet’ kind of change. Maybe it is smaller and simpler.

Keep opening my heart.

Grieve when I am heartbroken

-take a breath

Sometimes following a well-worn path is okay. It may be well-worn for a reason.

-take a step

When I see a beautiful flower I want to spend time with; it is okay to make my own path. Carefully so as not to harm anyone.

-take a breath

When I’ve become stuck in a bog, it is okay to reach out for help.

-take a step

If I am deep in the thorns and nettles and poison ivy, keep going. Get help.

-take a breath

Sometimes I need to stop and reflect and drink some clear water, listen to the birds and watch the animals and the sky.

-take a step

Sometimes I am the one who can pull someone out of the bog.

-take a step

Sometimes I am the one who can call directions to help someone out of the maze of thorns and nettles.

-take a breath

Sometimes I can sit in the stillness and silence with another.

-take a step

I can take a drink of clear water and breath in a sunset.

-take a breath

I can have gratitude in my heart and keep opening my heart.

-take a step

I can ask for forgiveness and offer forgiveness and accept forgiveness.

-take a breath

I can say a kind word and offer a compassionate hand. I can hear a kind word and accept a compassionate hand.

-take a step

I can hold my Divine Beloved in my open heart.
